Centrifugal Machines for Concrete Utility Poles: The Core Equipment for Quality Molding

Technical Principle of Centrifugal Molding

The basic principle of centrifugal molding involves placing a steel mold filled with concrete material onto the support rollers of a centrifugal machine. Through the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation, the concrete slurry is uniformly distributed along the inner wall of the mold. Simultaneously, the centrifugal compaction pressure expels excess moisture, forming a dense and structurally sound pole wall. The entire centrifugal process typically follows a three-stage speed sequence: slow, medium, and fast. The slow stage is the feeding phase, during which the concrete is preliminarily distributed within the mold; the medium stage serves as a transitional phase; and the fast stage achieves full compaction of the concrete. Some process schemes control the total centrifugal time at over 17 minutes, with the slow stage lasting approximately 2.5 minutes at a speed of about 210 r/min, and the fast stage lasting about 10 minutes at speeds up to 820 r/min (with the steel mold rotating at approximately 450 r/min), ensuring uniform wall thickness and satisfactory density.

Structure and Technical Requirements of Centrifugal Machines

The industry currently widely adopts floor-mounted centrifugal machines, mainly consisting of an electric motor, a gearbox, drive shafts, and two or more sets of support rollers. The steel mold is equipped with running wheels at both ends, which align with the support rollers of the centrifugal machine, and the mold is rotated through friction. The technical condition of the equipment directly affects the quality of the finished product??if the parallelism or levelness of the support roller installation deviates excessively, the steel mold will vibrate during operation, resulting in uneven wall thickness (i.e., "eccentricity"), which seriously compromises the service life and safety of the pole. To mitigate this issue, modern centrifugal machines are generally equipped with hydraulic pressing devices that apply downward pressure above the mold, effectively suppressing vibration, reducing noise, and improving molding quality.

Quality Commitment and Technical Assurance

We fully understand that centrifugal equipment is not merely a rotating machine, but rather the first line of defense for pole quality. From equipment selection to routine maintenance, we strictly implement technical condition inspections covering key items such as spindle radial runout, roller wear, and electrical protection systems. At the same time, we scientifically set the centrifugal speed program based on product specifications and concrete characteristics, ensuring that every pole achieves optimal molding results under centrifugal force.

Choosing a pole manufacturer with solid process expertise and a rigorous quality control system means laying a strong foundation for the long-term safe operation of power transmission lines. Relying on our equipment and technology, we deliver high-quality poles that stand the test of time.
