The difference between prestressed cement poles and non-prestressed cement poles

Cement poles can be divided into prestressed and non-prestressed types, with the core difference stemming from the reinforcement processing technology, which directly affects crack resistance, load-bearing capacity, and applicable scenarios. During production, prestressed poles undergo tensioning of high-strength steel wires before concrete casting. After the concrete cures, the tension is released, placing the pole body in a pre-compressed state, effectively suppressing crack formation. This results in outstanding crack resistance, lighter pole body weight, and more material-efficient use, making it suitable for conventional distribution lines, but it is relatively brittle. Non-prestressed poles are equipped with threaded steel bars and do not undergo pre-tensioning treatment, relying on the steel bars to withstand tension. When the load increases, minor cracks are allowed to occur in the pole body, and the steel bars exhibit good ductility, making them less prone to sudden brittle fracture. It is commonly used in large bending moments, harsh outdoor environments, and important projects, but the overall steel bar consumption is greater and the cost is higher.
